Springbok flyhalf Handré Pollard will be sidelined for 'many months' with a knee ligament tear.
The 26-year-old suffered the injury during Montpellier's Top 14 match against Racing 92 on Friday night.
On Monday, the club confirmed 'Pollard's absence for many months after tearing an anterior cruciate ligament'.
The Springboks will therefore be without their first-choice No 10 for the Rugby Championship, which is set to take place in Australia from 7 November to 12 December.
